Surveying the natural forest surrounding the community to lead to natural diversity conservation, Baan Thilaipa

Thilaipa youth representatives started the survey of the forest surrounding their community to understand its biodiversity and learn about the wildlife in their area. They discovered that they did not know the names of the trees and plant varieties they grew up with, let alone that their fruits are food sources for many animals. Furthermore, they knew very little about the hornbills often flying past the village, their way of life and behaviors. Henceforth began their “study for conservation” from 2020 onwards, to accumulate knowledge on wildlife, hornbills, insects, frogs, snakes, and countless fish varieties. Throughout this process, they increasingly recognize the wealth of their surrounding forest and the interrelatedness of all living things. Their studies all the way up until now will continue even further.
